MF 445 Xtra Front Wheel Drive Sounds Braking During Steering

Hi,

I bought a MF 445 Xtra in a good running condition. The front wheel drive is working good, recently there is a sounds like braking during steering only. Already dismantled and checked the cross joints and planetary gears but no problem found.

Please help me to identify the problem so best solution would be served.

Paul, I'm not sure of the overall picture of what you are experiencing. I will offer this comment:

I have four 4WD tractors ranging from a MF2660 down to a compact Kubota B2150 and then down to a Kubota BX2200. All of them will act as if "something is binding" and at times makes some unpleasant noises when I make turns, even small turns. (When the FWD is engaged of course.) Depends entirely on the surface and how much tire to ground slippage there is. In other words, on pavement it is much worse and you soon learn not to do that while on soil or soft surfaces like gravel, etc. it is not even noticeable hardly.

This might be all that is going on with your MF445 -- in other words normal (??)

Have you used many 4WD tractors? Does your MF445 seem way out of line with the experience on the others ?
