I'm looking at a MF 451 4WD w/loader. I don't know that much about them, and can't find many threads on them. Is this a good choice in the 45-60 hp range? Are there other models I should consider. How much should one of these go for with about 1500 hours? Thanks for the help.

Does it have the straight 8 speed or the shuttle? Is the loader a MF loader? Quick attach bucket?

Straight 8 Spd (no shuttle), Massey loader, no quick attach on the bucket

Neighbor just sold one with about 1200 hours for $17,500. Straight 8 speed, Massey 1050 loader with a set of QA forks. Needed a seat & a service but was in good shape otherwise.

Nice size tractor, Perkins engine, good hydraulic flow. Not too much not to like about them.
I find the operator's platform a little tight, that's just my chassis size I think though.

i agree to the above. The operator station is a little tight if your a big fella. If under 6'1 and average weight then no issues. I'm 6'3 and 180 lbs and its good for me. I needed a little smaller tractor to tow and work in tight spaces so the smaller size works great for me.

Now as far as the tractor you might consider a 461, 543, or 563 if you can find one. The 451 was built in Brazil where these were built in Turkey. Overall quality was better and they had fewer problems. Not sure why but when the 451 changed model number to 543 they started making them in Turkey with the others. I believe this was in 2006. 461's were always made in Turkey as i believe the 431's were also. Overall these tractors are very strong for their size.

The MF 451 is probably the best or one of the best tractors made by MF. One dealer recently told me that not only is it the best of the bunch, but he can't keep one on the lot...they're gone almost immediately. I know I have zero complaints about mine. It's a work-horse!
