I recently bought a MF880 plow and it has a hydraulic reset system. What I am wondering is how the system works. I have the operators manual but it is like reading greek for me. The manual said it is designed to work with the MF tractors at the time but would it work with a Ford 7710-2?

The manual states that system requires the tractor to have a constant pressure-type hydraulic system with at least 2000 psi pressure rating. Again, this is all greek to me.

Does anyone have any ideas or know what type of system the 7710 has? Thanks

Just from what you wrote, it sounds like you have to have a closed center hydraulic system. I am not familiar with that plow model. Is your 7710 a open or closed system?

I posted this message on three sites. On the Ag talk site I have learned thanks to RickB that the 7710 is basically both. It is an open centered system with closed centered remotes if that makes any sense to you then you are much farther ahead then I am. I am posting a picture that I guess is an accumulator that is on the plow. It is a poor picture but the only one I have until morning if it helps people understand better.

I will admit, I do wish I had just waited and found a spring reset as I didn't realize the hydraulic resets were so much fun.

Your tractor has an open center system then. A closed center valve can be used as the end valve only in an open system. I would say to pressurizes the system on the plow and then use it to see if it will work that way. If it then trips, you will then need to pressurize it again. I can't guarantee that it will work that way, but I think that it will if it has a inlet check valve.

1105, 1135, 1155 had a radial closed center hydraulic pump mounted in front of the engine simular to JD at the time. It had a open center charge pump in the rear end that charge the pump.

Ok, but will it work on his Ford / NH 7710?

From what I have learned on the other board is that I could use this plow without the accumulator but I would have to hit the remote and manually reset the bottom if it tripped. But with the accumulator it won't be a problem. The 7710 would not run the plow the way the MF tractors at the time would without having the accumulator.

Here is a link to the thread on the Ag talk board as I have learned quite a bit so far. Ag Talk

I went and read the other site. I think the same thing as the last poster. Hook it up, pull your lever to put pressure to it then let off, if it trips pressurize it again.

With the accumulator you can operate it; if there is any leakdown in the system it will be kinda a pain.

Might want to keep your eyes open for a non-hyd plow - trips are even better than the hyd extras. It was one of those ideas that looked good on paper to the engineers, and some even worked good when new. But then reality sets in, and they are sold for scrap.......

I will see how this one works out but I am always keeping my eye out for equipment. If I can upgrade then I will. I didn't realize this plow would be so much fun when I bought it. I will see how it goes and hopefully I won't regret buying it.
