MF dozer ID, and advice

MF never made a 100 dozer. New undercarriage may or may not be available depending on the model. MF300 undercarriage isn't available from what I've read. If you look on the bottom of the oil pan, it should have the casting date to give you an idea of when it was made.
I wonder WTF I was sitting on all those years ago then since it had the MF logo and 100 signwriting on the fuel tank and was a near new machine????:confused2:

They made a 244, 2244, 3366, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 and 700 but never a 100. They made a model 100 loader to fit on a rubber tire tractor.

GManBart, On the right side of the bellhousing is an inspection plate. If you take that off you will see the torque converter. On it you will find 1/4 allen head cap screw. You are to have 6 qts of 10w oil in there. I am sorry I can't remember more about the right fluid to use in the torque converter but it should be in your manual. I really hope this helps. I have a neighbor that has the 2244 crawler and he has really bragged that little machine up.

Thanks! I only ad enough time to snap a quick picture, but does this look like the inspection plate you describe? He plate is gone, but that sure looks like a 1/4 Allen head visible at the very top of the opening.

Yes sir, that looks like the one we removed and added oil to it. There is not much room and it is a PITA to do. I am sure your manual can fill in all the blanks. I don't have a manual here to help me give more details.

If I could find a neighbor like that I would also have bought it. Of course around me are neighbors that have nothing in the way of equipment other than lawnmowers and one with a small Kubota CUT. Good luck in getting it going.

Well, I started to remove that plug, and it started seeping red transmission fluid before I even got it out, so I stopped. I figured that if the plug is near the top, and fluid starts coming out, it's got to be full. The fluid looked to be clean, and not milky.

You're right...it's a pain to get at, and it would be easy to drop the plug inside the bell housing (I wrapped a rag around it to be safe). I'm going to think a bit more on this before I remove the plug entirely.

I think I'm just stubborn enough to get it going again :D I've had to shift back to working on my barn...plenty of stuff to get done before the weather turns. It may wind up as more of a winter project....we'll see.
