MF205 Starter

Here we go again...no sooner did I get the head gasket replaced and now the dang thing won't start. I turn the key and sometimes I get nothing and sometimes I get a few clicks (with a fresh battery).

I'm thinking I might have burnt the starter up when it had the cylinder head problem, but I dunno. Is this a starter problem or the solenoid?

Wow, almost 400 views and no replies. Oh well...bought a new starter, new battery and new cables...and guess what...NOTHING CHANGED. I'm fed up with this "bargain deal" tractor,

What happens if you jump it with a wire?

I'll certainly try that again. I won't be back on the farm until Saturday, but I'll let you know how it goes.

I guess it would help if I actually installed all the new stuff I bought. I installed everything but the new ground wire. I guess I was so frustrated I overlooked that. Anyway, I took the old one off, made sure the ground connection was clean and installed the new one. It starts now

I must say though, this new starter is worlds better than the old one before it died. Sometimes I'd have to try 2 or 3 times at 5 seconds each turn of the key to get this thing started. Now I barely turn the key and she's running!

where did you buy your starter and did you get any info on the manufacturer, I need a stater for a hinomoto e14

I ordered mine through Sears for about $280, but the manufacturer was actually RareElectrical.com. Here is the link, but I am not familiar with thehinomoto. I will say that the mounting plate didn't fit exactly right and I had to grind it down to get it to fit around a part of the engine block that stuck out. Once I did that it slid in perfect and works like a charm. Sears.com
