MF2360 Skid Shoe Question

I recently purchased a GC1723E and the accompanying MF2360 snow blower. I see it has rear skid shoes, but no side ones, although there are holes on the lower sides where ones would normally attach. Searching the schematics of the MF2360 shows no side skid shoes. Does anyone know if the side holes are for skid shoes and if so, where they could be purchased, possibly aftermarket?

Thanks in advance!

The company that produced them also made blowers for other tractor manufacturers (ie. Kubota BX2750). MF and Kubota didn't offer side shoes, but there may have been another that did ,that way they would only have to produce 1 housing type. Or, they may have been there to aid in the production/shipping process. Side shoes have a disadvantage as they will raise up the blower as you travel along packed/icy snow, negating the effect of the cutting edge. I'm just some guy on the internet, others will be more knowledgeable.

Thanks DMW. I did some research into the manufacturer (RADtech.ca) of the Massey, Kubota and other snow blowers that you related. Kubota offers skid shoes (part #77700-05889) for the BX5450 blower, however, you are correct that they don't come with it. Since it appears that the Massey 2360 blower has the identical housing to the Kubota BX5450, except for the gearing/RPM, it has the same holes and distance (2") on the side to accept skid shoes. Besides the Kubota skid shoes, there is at least one other site that sells them (Snow Blower Skids for all makes and models) for the BX5450 - photo below - which should also fit the MF2360.

Hope this helps anyone else that has similar interest in this.

This is my solution. Going on 3rd year and it works perfectly here in Wisconsin.
Hope this copies and transfers.
Heres some pics of my solution, and it works perfectly. (6 foot front mounted blower)
I had the local steel supplier take a piece of 5/16 by 6 flat stock which was 74” long.
I had him put a 30* bend 1 1/2” from the front edge. It looks like a ski, 6” front to back, but 74” wide.
This was attached under the regular wear strip under the blower. I used (4) 7/16 plow bolts. I drilled these extra holes so the skid was demountable without having to remove the original wear strip bolts.
I had a hard time countersinking these holes for the plow bolts, but got it done.
The steel and the bend was around $40, and I had several hours in drilling, countersinking and mounting.

I had a tough time countersinking those bolts, but it really works. I can go on rain soaked, unfrozen grass during the first few snowfalls, and it doesnt EVER dig in. It also does not ride up except on the hardest of blown in drifts. In which case, I use down pressure and if I need to adjust course, I just have to stop, lift, correct the course, lower and down pressure, then proceed again. But I only had to use that procedure once in 2 years
I had planned to remove it after I built up a base of frozen snow, but it penetrates well enough that i havnt removed it in 2 years.

lpakiz - Sounds like an inexpensive fix. Your pics didn't seem to make it, but I would like to see them if you can post them.

Again, with this 6” by 74” wide skid, I can put the front-mounted blower on float and go across soft, wet grass, unfrozen gravel, without any problems. I even blew out 3/4 of a mile of woods trails, some places soft enough I was afraid of sinking in and getting stuck. The only dirt was from those swamp hummocks that i sheared off and sent thru the machine.

Excellent solution! I wish I had the skills to do so. Thanks for posting the photos & enjoy your winter!?

As an aside, I wanted to purchase a few shear bolts for the snow blower, so I called my Massey dealer. Each auger bolt was $6.03 and the fan bolt $4.47. Since the Kubota BX5450 is basically the same as the MF2360, the shear bolts are identical (auger - 5/16" X 2-1/4"). A local Kubota dealer had the same shear bolts (auger/fan bolts - parts #'s 70060-01338/70060-01075) for $2.96 & $1.32 respectively.

I too just used my last auger shear bolt and called my Kubota (also MF) dealer for bolts. PK of 10 MF bolts for $5.80/per (plus shipping..) so if these part numbers are to bolts that will work properly, at those prices that would be good.

I copied the part numbers and will check with the parts dept.

Thanks for that link! I ordered a set of the 5” ones for my older 2360 that doesn’t have the holes predrilled.
