Mf 30?
I began tearing down my mf30 industrial yesterday and I'm looking for your advice and opinions. I am obviously no expert and this is my first tractor overhaul. I am trying to do as good a job as I can.
I was going to attempt to do an inframe. This didn't turn out to be so easy. In order to get the crank pulley off,the front end had to be separated. THIS IS CRAZY! Unless I missed something, I think you would almost have to separate the front end from the motor just to put a fan belt on.
I still have the engine bolted to the transmission And probably going to leave it like that.
After removing head and dropping oil pan, the crank looks and feels pretty good to me. I'm not sure if there is a good way to check them, but I think I'm going to leave mine in.

I have removed Pistons. All the Pistons had bad broken rings. Could I have broken them getting the Pistons out? Because they were busted up pretty bad.

However the sleeves look and feel really good. I can barely feel a small scratch or two in one or two places. I am not sure I want to go through the hassle of pulling them because they are dry and you guys are saying they are such a pain! Thoughts?

I plan to buy the major rebuild kit and replace everything I can except maybe the sleeves. I am going to try and "roll in" new main bearings.

The numbers are stamped on rod caps. All the numbers face the left side and are numbered 1-4 starting at front and working to back. I have them connected to the correct connecting rod and piston out of the engine.

What all comes with a major rebuild kit? The rod caps, bearings, piston and rings? Does the connecting rod come with it? Where did you order your rebuild kit from?

I am going to take the head to be reworked. Do I need to give the machine shop any special instructions. Or they should know what to do?

Someone said on another post to have injectors in head checked. How, and who could do this?

I know that's a ton of questions, but just trying to make sure I do this right! Thanks again!

Broken rings are ofte the result of using ether ot other starting aid.
Suppose the pistons are worn out?
