OK, my MF35 is making so much oil that I have narrowed it down to the Injector pump, I first replaced the fuel pump, but oil/fuel is pouring out of the dipstick hole at around a cupfull per minute. So I don't think it is blowing by the rings at that rate because it is running just fine.

My question is, when the new pump arrives is there any secret to swaping out the old pump with the new one, i.e. there must a timing key or something, so the injectors inject at the correct BTDC of the compression stroke, will it be obvious when I pull the old one off?

New pump is a after market replacement for the CAV 3240F938.

Thanks,

I don't see a Perkins 203 listed in the MF 35 parts list, only a 152 which is a three cylinder. If yours is a four cylinder, it's probably s Standard Deisel 23C. If so, you can simply unbolt and remove the pump after noting the external timing marks on the pump mounting flange and the mating surface of the drive adapter. The pump drive hub is splined with a master spline so it will only fit one way. Simply bolt the new pump on with the splines lined up, and rotate till the external marks line up and it's good to go. If the new pump has automatic advance and the original does not, you may want to ****** the static timing by whatever the advance spec is. If it were the Perkins 152, the pump gear is bolted onto the drive hub from the front. You would have to remove the front side cover plate(with the engine oil filler) to access the three bolts. This gear has a dowel pin which mates to a notch in the pump drive hub so it also will ony go in one way. I have a book on the 35 around somewhere that outline the whole timing procedure for both engines if it comes to that.

It is a 4 cylinder, and it has a nameplate that says Perkins AD4-203. I'm not sure what a Standard Diesel 23C is, or how it varies from what I have, the nameplate on the injection pump says it a CAV DPA 3240F939. I have the MF 30 parts book and it lists the diesel as an AD4-203-20849 (MF 520 666 M91) assuming it's the one with a Torque Converter and not Dual Clutch...

I should have mentioned that it is the industrial tractor, painted yellow with the wide wheel base in the front (has a hydraulic bulldoser blade mounted on the front).

What I see for the 203 looks to be similar to the 152. Three bolts hold the drive gear to the pump hub, the gear has a dowel pin that locates into a notch in the hub. Remove the small cover plate on the front side of the timing cover to access the three bolts. The rest should be pretty straight forward.

Yes 3 bolts hold the pump to the drive gear, 3 nuts hold the pump to the drive casing on 3 studs. The pump has 3 holes that are slots that can be used for timing the pump, I just installed it back close to what it had been.
