MFGC 2300 Diesel Fuel Line Leak

Using my tractor to till the garden today I caught a whiff of Diesel couldn't figure out why after doing a bit more still could smell diesel off and on, I happend to look down and the left side running board had some wetness to it.I shut the tractor off and opened the hood,to find diesel all over the left side of the tractor's motor.I turned the key on and there's fuel squirting out of a pin hole just under the fitting that goes into the injection pump.I was able to cut 1" off the hose and reinstall it and get the work done.To my amazement I found out that the hose is just a cheap pvc.It's not a braided hose.The hose actually split on its seam.Guess my next project is going to be to change the hose from the fuel pump to the injection pump.I would have done it today but wanted to till the garden.Tommoro I'll have to go into town buy some hose and change it.Gonna be a pain as I'll have to pull the floor pan off in order to access the fuel pump I think,maybe I'll get lucky and beable to access the line into the pump after taking the lower dash screen off.I don't understand why its got such a cheap hose on there.Larry

Ok went and bought some fuel line hose,bought 4 ft of hose.I ended up using 32" so have some left over for some other machine ??.I took the lower dash off and the side panel on the left side.The right side I just took all the bolts out of the lower dash to give me some wiggle room.Once that was off I had to remove the debris screen and then I had full access to the fuel pump and fuel line.I disconected both ends and joined the new hose to the old hose with a split pin.I then was able to slowly thread the new hose following the old hose just by pulling on the old.It made things pretty simple in trying to thread the new hose on its own.Put the hose and clamps on and gave it a try.No leaks so it was all good to go and put everything back together.Took me about 1 1/2 hrs[I don't work fast] Larry.

I had a diesel leak in some 1/4" hoses that return from the injectors.

I fixed it with hay wire :laughing: Sometimes NAPA just isn't close enough.....

Thank you so much for the excellent post. I can smell and see fuel along the left side of my MF GC2300 also. I plan to change the fuel hose (following your post). Can you tell me the hose size (ID, OD) that I should buy?

I just went through mine last fall. OEM spec is for an 80cm long piece of 7mm x 12mm (OD) hose. I replaced with a section of NAPA 1/4" fuel line.

It may not be necessary to remove the floor pan to get at the end of the hose where it connects to the electric fuel pump, but it sure does make it easier. There's also a battery ground in that area that could probably use some cleaning --mine sure did.

EDIT: Actually the fuel line break was first noticed in 2013 (my note in parts book is incorrect). I had problems with it ever since then and finally changed it last year.

Thank you very much! I really appreciate it. That really helps me a lot. I will buy the NAPA hose.

One more question -- did you replace the short horizontal section (3 inches?) of braided fuel hose? I cannot tell if mine is leaking there or from the bolt behind it (see attached pdf). But I can see fuel coming out.
