MICE in the wiring harness - Mahindra 3616!! w/ Mitsubishi powerplant

Mice did their thing to my wiring harness! Went to start the tractor yesterday and nothing. Disassembled it and found this- little *****!!

I can repair the parts of the main wiring harness that were chewed but I think I'm going to replace the Dash harness section as it's too trashed- UGH!

Couple questions-

For the main wire harness repairs- anyone know the wire gauge size on the harness?
(I'd like to order the right color/ stripe/ wire size to keep consistency in the harness. Any vendor contacts on where to order short lengths as well appreciated.)

The dash harness section I'd like to replace is labeled Mitsubishi. Anyone know where I can get one besides my local Mahindra dealer? Maybe somewhere cheaper or some type of Mitsubishi distributor.

The tag on the Dash section of the harness says:
Mitsubishi
LIHJOEN
1945-8602-000
F070-208 101/09/25

Any help greatly appreciated!!

I can't help with your wiring. I do have an after the fact suggestion. I keep little boxes of D-Con under the hoods of both my cars. I don't fight my mice, I FEED them!!

unfortunately i don't have much to offer either. the dash cluster itself is mahindra's..... working on my uncles 3215 and i googled for a better service manual (high hopes...lol :confused3:) and found the cub cadet 7530/7532 service manual. they are exactly the same tractor. only physical appearance was the dash cluster is different...
not sure why they make them like that but u can't even replace the hour meter separately...
those little buggers are impossible to evict once they decide on moving in!

My comment is also after the fact. We had the same problem with mice in the fishing boat. Chewed through the transducer wire, lights harness and live well harness. My buddy told a farmer in the family who told him use Bounce fabric softener sheets anywhere you don稚 want mice. Apparently they can稚 stand the stuff! Well we did that and not a single mouse poop or problem for the last two years. No fishing line chewed apart, no wiring harness issues, nothing. So I壇 try putting some of that in various non-flammable locations on the tractor. See what happens!

I've had no luck with the Bounce Fabric Sheets once the mice have made their home. I've found they have actually made nests in the stuff, or just pooped all over it. I've tried everything under the sun. Poison works best but takes time and they still have time to do their damage after eating the poison. Cats are the best solution.

15 years ownership of tractor parked with hood up, no problems. They like a roof over their heads, too. :)

Yes you are 100% correct. I forgot to mention that but that helps a lot!

Most times you can cut back the rubber plug some so you can expose enough wire to solder on to. Take the time to get the right color-coded wire and use heat shrink tubing or a hot glue gun.

I've never had mice chew any wiring harnesses, etc in ANY of my vehicles. BUT, their nests were everywhere. I tried most everything - dryer sheets, naphtha/moth balls....... What works best for me - - hood up. They definitely do not seem to like the open environment.

Hood up - - no mice. View attachment 638907

If the wiring harness has 2" or so of slack [ vehicle manufactures usually make wires AS SHORT as possible to make an extra half cent on each vehicle ], and you can get the back off the dash.... you may be able to repair it making connection internally using the existing wire. I would clean the back off and explore the wire color going into each entrance point. Then make a good map, or write right on the white plastic by each spot what is going in there. Not saying you can find enough everywhere to discern what wire colors were what, but it may be possible. If it was mine, I'd try it. But you should explore the cost of getting a new dash/harness from the dealer, too. At least see if they are avail, and how much. I set traps outside any time I see a track in the snow, and keep my house and barn critter proof. Keep all my vehicles inside, too. But that ship has sailed for you.
