Mid mount pto's

When did the major tractor manufacturers (john deere, kubota, new holland) start putting mid mounted pto's on their tractors? I am starting to look for a used 40-50hp fwd tractor for use with a front mounted snow blower.

New Holland TC35D's and TC40D's could be either factory fitted or field fitted with mid PTO. TC40D's can be fitted with a mid PTO but need major disassembly to install the intermediate drive gears. TC35DA, TC40DA, and TC45DA can be field fitted with Mid PTO.

Is there a standard speed for mid PTO's?
Would it be 540?

The other option if you have rear remotes is to put on a hydraulic driven snow blower and make up hoses long enough to reach the rear remotes.

mid-PTO speed is 2000 RPM.

Running a fully hydraulic snowblower from a CUT's onboard hydraulic system isn't a viable option. There simply isn't enough flow. Adding a completely dedicated system would be SPENDY, but possible.

Blowers & brooms need a seperate reservoir and hydraulic system to work on a tractor that small. There's inadequate GPM to run one off the rear outlets.

One method used is to install a 'reverser box' that is driven from the rear PTO along with a long supported shaft that is 'slung' inder the tractor.
I have seen a few home made units of this type in my area.
Also BERVAC had a factory made one.
My blower incorporated the Bervac unit, however I opted for rear usage for a number of reasons, mainly I wished to keep FEL usage as well as I have a front plow.
Yes I'll sell the reverser! PM me if interested.
