"Free install?"

It's been a long time since I've seen one of those.

SDT

My part of the world Kubota still set pricing, so dealers compete on what they can throw in free (not that there's that much real competition). Different in different places though.

My recent trip to the dealer enlightened me about how Kubota works, most tractors are shipped in crates stacked two high and great deal of the options are left to being installed by the dealers so what I didn't get was how much of the option price goes to them. However like cars they are motivated this time of year to sell what is in the lots and will move stuff around in regions to move it. Also the Grand L are back ordered and making a deal on them is less likely. Also I made major change and decided on M7060 cab 12 speed way more tractor for same or slightly less than a loaded Grand L. Only downside a electric clutch tranny, the upside way better fuel consumption, much roomier cab, easier entry and exit, taller. I was amazed it's length and turn radius is very good. As old Ford man like moving from 3000 to 5000. Being an extra large [fat] the grand L cab was cramped. The M cab reminded me of my favorite chair. The FEL is a beast no worry about picking up bales or 1 ton pallets. Makes me feel much safer using a root rake vigorously same with toothed bucket. The Grand L didn't make feel like I was getting more tractor than my F3000 just fancier one, in fact in some ways I believe my F3000 could out pull the Grand L, I'm sure the M7060 could drag the F3000 around easily. NO MID PTO so no front snow blowing

I thought you'd say I was being silly buying so much tractor. A friend of mine ran into a fellow in Williston that had Grand on a Trailer and we had been discussing my plans. The owner was a grey hair fellow of the 6' size and said his only complaint was he is in an out of the cab a lot during the day an entry/exit was cumbersome. So next day at the dealership they brought a M7060 out for me to play with. I had no trouble getting in/out lots of hand holds two steps spacious cab. It dwarfed the L sitting next to it which was not a cab version, I asked the dealer how the cab between the two compared, he said about the like tractor a lot smaller. A first I thought oh typical up sale tactic, he says I can put you in that tractor for less money and you don't have to wait 2/3 months. I said go get the brochure out and start working on a quote out fitted like the Grand I'll be in after I spend some time with it. I couldn't believe the difference it is not a lot longer or wider but much beefier axles, tires, motor, hitch and the column based clutchless shifting on the fly forward to reverse was painlessly easy. So maybe today I'll sign. Also read column today about guy who built his own TNT, so I thought I can do that so had them spec three remote rear hyd lines and I'll buy some 3" cylinders and we will weld up some ends plumb them add some flow control valves and I'll have a cat 2 tnt. Just got to do some more research on the float detent valves Kubota is offering. I'd like two 4way 4 position valves so I can have lock, float, up, down. My reading says most valves show a little blow by in lock position because they don't use orings which would mean the top link would drift with time and load, but the flow control valves will let you slow the movement and allow complete cutoff.

I watched both video an Messick's comes the closest defining the function of the valves but not in detail. So does float hook the two ports together or both ports to return, my guess is return. Is the return line able to let the cylinder draw oil from tank or is there a check valve in the return line? Is the off position both lines off or do they have pressure reliefs built in?

Float works just like float on a loader. Move the lever forward or back & things move up or down (in or out). Leave the lever centered & things stay put. The valve blocks off both lines leading to a cylinder. Push the lever all the way forward & it engages a detent & stays put in float. While in float both ports or ends of the cylinder are connected to the tank. The cylinder will move based on any external pressure of gravity or other proper force. There are no check or relief valves in float, just a straight connection to the tank.

Hydraulic valves generally dont have any pressure relief on the work port side. If you were to overpressure a circuit (catch the loader on a rock while moving fast & not touching the lever) something will blow up. Hopefully a cheap burst hose, otherwise it will be an expensive cylinder or part of some frame/structure).

There are less common. Valve types out there for specialty applications, but they are uncommon on tractors.
