I went on to the Rankin site. The single shank rippers shown on that site look IDENTICAL to those in the Gearmore catalog. As stated in an earlier post I made here, I bought the Gearmore GR 100 which I described earlier. Gearmore does show a S-soiler / M buster combo as MB-S-XB in their catalog as well and that one states it is for tractors with 24 pto hp max. Not sure why.

I ordered mine from a Kubota dealer. Used it today and very pleased with it. Should have had it a long time ago.

I paid $225 for it with the optional furrower blade through a local dealer. I hate buying things I can build myself and my original plan was to make my own. Unfortunatly when they turned on the irrigation ditches around here 2 weeks ago, I discovered a few problems that made me decide to go ahead with my main pipe replacement earlier than originally planned. I had seen this ripper at the dealer and was planning on building mine similar as I liked this design better than many others I had looked at. I can easilly incorporate this 3PH frame into another project(use frame for ripper and rake assembly) so it will save me some time when that project gets started.

I also have a 5' Rankin brush hog that is built pretty well.

I would say the horsepower limitation is determined by the structure geometery and shearbolt size. A 40HP tractor could probably pull this thing OK, but would have a greater tendency to break shear bolts.
