This is proly the dumbest complaint you ever read :). Midway is my prefered order store for bullets, gun parts, reloading tools etc. - but I am really getting tired of Midway portraying the founder and CEO in every catalog. Arent you?

Just saying:)

No

I admit his persona does come across as "Howdy Doody-ish," but compared to most of the polished ilk (Trump, Romney, etc..) we see every day this is refreshing. I am sure you have read his bio and he seems like a self-made man and understands not only the business end but is also a hands-on shooter and gunsmith.

Midway offers fair prices on quality goods, ships immediately and I have had exceptional customer service without exception.

If you want to dislike a sportsman let me suggest Dick Cheney. Not only is he the Darth Vader of the 21st century he shoots his hunting partners. :)

Happy New Year All!

It is disgusting. But lots of successful businessmen are shameless self promoters.
Then again not all shameless self promoters are successful businessmen (Trump).

I understand your irritation. Once you notice something and "lock-on" to an irritation, it only grows. Try Midsouth shooters supply. They've been great in all my dealings and even had a brick of magnum rifle primers to sell me during the "great primer shortage" a few years ago.

There isn't anything wrong with Larry, sure he may be a little corny, but he has a lot to be proud of, he has built that business himself from nothing, and it is a big success.. Midway is a good outfit to deal with. There now, you have my take on it.

Nothing wrong with Midway at all, and my wish list there is several pages long - its just every time i get the catalog or sales flyer, there he is again, and again and again and again ...

Sort of like Bugs Bunny.....

Midway is fine but there are other suppliers that are less expensive for the same items. Wideners in Johnson City, Tenn., is one. Natchezz Shooting Supply is another. No 'Howdy Dooty' pictures on their print catalogs. Just firearm supplies. Wideners especially, is good for bulk reloading supplies. They are the Joyce Hornady US Distributors. I want to buy bullets in thousands, not in 50 packs and brass the same way. I want powder in 8 pound jugs or 45 pound kegs....

50 packs are fine for Cabelas retail, on the rack. The packaging eats into the price of the contents.

Larry, in my opinion acts 'corn fed'. I find him humorous but tedious.

I would rather hunt with Dick Cheney than go driving with a Kennedy or leave my daughter with a Klinton.

I also think Midway is spending a little too much effort to promote Larry Potterfield....and he does not come off too well IMO. The marketing seems a little "oppie" to me too.

I've known Larry and his family for many years and used to sell him some widgets. He is pretty much what you see....and is a hard working, honest and successful businessman. He was the first guy in the reloading biz to computerize and streamline his operation. That is what really made his biz model shine. Later he (and his engineers) made his house brands a reality. He really put a dent in the competitors operations at the time.

Midway is a MAJOR supporter of the NRA....and his round-up program has provided alllot of benefits to all of us. That is a big reason to support Midway with business IMO.

Things have changed over the past few years....and several business' have since followed Larry's lead....and are quite competitive with Midway. I have found the other guys often times have more items in stock than Midway does. Midway seems to have too many outages on the popular items.....and you pay a second freight charge if you let them ship the backorders (which I dont).

I buy from several of 'em....but I admire what Larry has done for his business and for the shooting sports....even if he is a bit "corney".
