I still do a search for similar type equipment sales and if I find them doing business on the internet again, they had better be on the up and up.

Original post from 2-25-2013 This outfit Double Diamond Construction and a person with the name Dan Miller is still doing business in ND and recently got an advance payment from a farmer in Edgeley. ND. This Double Diamond Construction company came highly recommended by a company called MCR Steel Buildings, believed to be a ficticious name for Metal Construction Resources, LLC out of Denver, CO owned by a Rob Morton. The farmer paid for contract amounts in advance and Double Diamond Construction did not set up the pay the subcontractors nor pay them for their work. The MCR Steel Buildings , Metal Construction Resources, LLC, was also paid for the metal building and insulation directly but has failed to pay even one cent for the $18,000 plus worth of insulation used on the project. This is actually only a partial correct statement. Dan Miller did rip off the erector and did not pay him. MCR did pay for the insulation. MCR was NOT contracted to pay the labor they only provided the steel building and the insulation per contract with the end customer. MCR in NO WAY recommends Dan Miller and it is up to the end customer to back ground check on these contractors. You can contact Thermal Design to confirm that the insulation was satisfied.

BTW...Dan Miller now operates under the name of Steel Building Corp and is still screwing people over!!! His last address was 1418 Washburn Street, Erie Colorado, 80516. There are already several people in the state of Colorado looking for him and it is just a matter of time. A person like this can only run for so long.

Just so people know, when sub contractors are not paid by the GC, they turn to the owner for payment. Yes, the owner may end up paying twice, but the subs will always get paid. It's for this reason that lien releases are demanded at the time of payment. Don't be afraid to ask the lien release. The reputable contractor will know what it's for and not hesitate to give you one. If you think you have a questionable GC, then write out two party checks. That way you know the sub will get the money because they will be at the bank when the check is cashed.
