Midwest and KIOTI

Just a guess but it sounds to me like the Kioti dealer is aligning the Midwest prices with other similar quality implement makers and in the process reaping a huge profit. I've always said Midwest not only makes great implements but they are a great value too. Get Carver and Carver to ship one to you, Bob. I bet you save $ and the assembly is pretty straightforward on a BB.

Bob. I tried the local Kioti's and got similar pricing as you. I think that Midwest is a little higher in Kioti orange, and as was said, the dealers want to make their part.

I talked to Carter in TN, they encourafed me to shop local, because of the freight expense. But even with it, I am coming out over the pricing/quality of local stuff.

I checked a couple of freight costs from KY to Canada and was floored - the best price was $728US -YIKES. Now I know that is just for one unit and a dealer would get a break if they were bringing in a whole load. Jim MC @ MidWest also advised me that the customs paperwork is onerous and many dealers either just will NOT do it or they charge big bucks for it.

Now I am left with a decision about budget and quality and I have decided to go for the BB20-72 series from an Ontario supplier - after all I am not in the landscape business and certainly will not be using it 24/7 during the season. Other comments on this board have conviinced me that teh BB20 series should exceed my needs and expectations. Comparable sized units in thsi area (Bush Hog, Walco, LandPride) are all at least $100 more and don't appear to have anything more to offer in quality.

So, here's hoping all this "research" pays off. I hope to pick up the new unit in a week to 10 days.

Good luck, Bob. I guess you checked Carver? (not to be confused with Carter). They had particularly reasonable shipping prices, though I don't know about Canada.

Yes Jonathan I did check with Steve at Carver's thanks, and it was that shipping across the border thing that presented the $$ problem and the paperwork burden.
Maybe I am just rationalizing now but I am confident that the 20 series will do everything I ask of it and I think going for the 30 series was part of the "If I can get the bigger, stronger, heavier one one within my budget ... well, why the heck not?"
As I said earlier the 20 series is still more metal for less money than anything else I could find within a reasonable drive.

Now I get to anticipate the arrival of my new tool (toy) in the next week or so.

I don't think you are rationalizing. There was one post not too long ago about a guy in a similar situation--wanted the 30 but could only get the 20. I believe he said something like, "I can't imagine needing anything heavier duty."
