[ We'll probably just keep the really big ones. But the 5-15 ft trees are so thick that it just wares you out to walk into it for 50 yards!

https://www.clfab.com/ Would one of these work for you? Watch the video.

hey just an idea, you got any pulpwooders in your area? those guys will normally come in and cut most of the trees and run over the under brush pretty good, or heck you can do like i do when i need some beer money and just haul the good 15ft trees out on a gooseneck, load them with the skidsteer when ya get it and make you a little extra money. oh and check and see if there is a mill near by! really its all up to you but thats my $.02 on it

Welcome to TBN Vortec! You may want to consider renting a skid steer with a mulching head, prior to purchasing if you don't want to hire the job out. I considered purchasing and renting but due to my free time, or lack thereof, as well as my limited mechanical abilities, I decided to hire some pros to come in and mulch for me.

Thanks for all the welcoming comments! We just had our offer for the heavily wooded property accepted today for 1130/acre and I'm just giddy about it. There are several old structures to remove but there's some fine hunting as well. I'll have to clear trees for a homesite, a yard, trails, a driveway, and hopefully around the perimeter for a better fence but I guess I won't have to have a game plan in order until a Dec 31st closing. It's one of those court approval situations so I have to time decide and not be in a big hurry. All the suggestions are greatly appreciated and I'm looking forward to reading as many as I can get.

Had a semi retired guy come in with a self loader to do some logging we split it 50/50. he hired the cutter and I skidded the wood with him. made $7K on this and rented a excavator in the 135 class and pulled all the roots out. that was $700. so I am in the bonus column. Though we worked his schedule which was good by me. took about 3 months.

LOL Yeah. Of course that was for 160 acres. It's way more than we can really afford without greatly scaling back our "dream home" but that's okay. I'd rather have the land.

Congrats on the property! That should keep you busy :)
