I was also impressed when my TC33 started last month after sitting for almost 2 months - though in the barn. I just plugged it in for about an hour & it fired right up when it was only about 15-20 degrees outside & near 0 the night before.
This past weekend, I wish that I could do some work with it, but it was nothing but mud here also. I made a nasty track across the yard when I though that it was still frozen enough-wrong /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
If the wind & son continues here in SE Ohio, I should be out on BabyBlue tomorrow. We are over 70 today /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

OK, now I'm curious, are you impressed that your batteries are good or that the diesel works after sitting for extended periods of time? The battery part is always surprising, but the diesel cranking over after sitting for many months is very typical. Not to throw water on the parade, but I should point out that this is pretty typical. Now that the weather is getting better, you can get the battery back to full charge and start getting that oil dirty.

Hey Rat:

This tractor caused me so much grief during the first year I owned it (before I took it to a different dealer to have it essentially re-prepped) that I was pretty much expecting the worst. I got the best, and will gladly run with that! My thought was that the battery might not have enough in it to light up the plugs, and if it did, it really might not have enough left to crank the starter. Happily, I'll never know how much was really left in that battery, since the tractor started instantly. I am happy!

Happy Spring,

Jim

I got the in-laws wood splitter out last nite.
It has a 8hp B&S, been sitting in old wet barn for 8 -10 yrs since last run.
Put gas in, fuel lines leaking, 1 pint oil and checked hydro fluid.
1st pull it STARTED /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Everyone said it wouldn't run from the poor conditions it was in.
If it didn't start I was going to put a plate on it and mount to SSL and lose the motor and pump.

I have TC25D too. Started right up as well. Question: How long did it take for your unit to stabilize. My first winter with it - notice that it putt putts for about 5 seconds then takes off to throttle setting - normal. Please describe in detail your engine behavior at cold start. Thanks. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hi CD:

Not much to describe:

1. Heat plugs, wait for light to go out.
2. Engage starter.
3. Engine turns over and starts.

There might be a few seconds where it "gains its feet," and this is usually accompanied by a little black smoke. Then it goes to and runs smoothly at whatever RPM the throttle is set at - usually about 1000-1100. I then let the temp gauge move into the green, bump up the throttle a little, and barring mud /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif off I go!

I don't think a little put-put is out of character for these tractors at startup, either in the cold or with warmer temperatures. Anybody out there disagree?

Jim
