Milatary Generator

If you don't mind fiddling with stuff the mep-8xx are a lot generator for the money and diesel make fuel storage easy a sealed 55 gal drum can sit for 5 plus years, but you need to run them 3/4 times a year, and drain the on board tank yearly. And put battery maintainer on it. I also used space heater as small load during service runs. I had bad experience trying to keep finding gas for the 8kva lawn mower generator, standing in line waiting for fuel people getting very angry about me filling two 55 gallon drums. This time I'll have fuel on hand and no loud generator to listen too. Last time neighbors lived off a grill and hotdogs and filled the water jugs and took showers with my garden hose. We went 26 days no power, 18 days no cell phones. It was hot as ****. I ran my Gen 12 to 14 hours a day. Next time other switching to different drum by just moving my bung hole pickup tube it will stay running. Last time I felt like mad max, out in f350 4x4 crew cab chain saws, tow straps and oil drums, guns and cash searching for the juice. We had clear the roads and forge flooded roads. Came close to siphoning from closed stations at night. Too old for that now

I'm fortunate to have a diesel supplier with a low minimum. I keep two 55 gallon drums on hand and get fuel delivered. Cost for delivered off road ends up about the same as on road at the pump but gets me out of hauling and lifting.

Fortunate indeed. Used to have a guy deliver 100g min and charged $1/g over for delivery. Unfortunately he went out of business, something about insurance. My next option is 400g min, which I’m setting up for, but there are rumbling about future enforcement of double walled tanks with permits. Cheapest suggested tank was over $6k, not gonna happen. In past, i’ve used about 400g/yr for generators and tractors.

Sounds like fuel delivery is more of a pain in the *** than its worth.

We have a card lock within about 10 miles from us. I usually keep 2 full fuel containers around and if I need more I know where to get it.
