According to the Hobart employees over on the Hobart Welding Forum , the Miller and Hobart units are made side by side by the same workers. The only difference is the parts used.

</font><font color="blue" class="small">( I bought a HH 180 last year and the drive rollers are metal. <font color="red"> Yes the rollers are metal but the gears driving the metel rollers are plastic </font>
I have been happy with it although it took me a while (still learning)
to get used to mig over stick. I think the infinite voltage control would be very nice, but I am not sure I am sophisticated enough to take advantage of it. The 4 taps on my machine seem to work fine. )</font>

Plastic gears, in certain aplications, can outlast metal ones. So that is not necessarily a bad thing.

I agree not necessarily a bad thing... just a difference in the machines and probably why one of the reasons Miller is more $$$$.
