What do you have that is equivalent in size (48") and weight (@280 lbs) to the LD-48 that Millionzi manufactures.

Ken

I forget the Westendorf model number but they have one for a bit over $800 that is about the same weight and size as the LD48. It costs more to add a bottom rake to carry brush (the basic implement is fine for logs). Again, you don't have any curl/dump capability with the Westendorf so it is fine for scraping a log off the ground but not useful for coming over the top of a loose brush pile and then clamping the load. Once you add the cost of the bottom rake piece I think it costs about the same as the LD48. It saves you the cost of adding hydraulic controls but is much more limited in function. The LD48 can do anything the Westendorf does but the Westendorf cannot do everything the LD48 can.

Has anyone looked at the mini Gator grapple from Markham welding? It has the following specs:

Mini Gator
The attachment is 45 ス wide and made from 4x4 x シ Square tubing
3 Pipe シ Wall
ス 1st quality continuous Bottom tines
ス top tines
New Style Parker flat face couplers with Parker Hoses
Counter sunk grease fittings
American Made repack-able cylinder
Opens 35 Wide
1 1/4 pins and bushings
29" Wide from out side tine to outside tine

Weight 470 pounds Price $900.00 Shipping $83.55 - 20.00 = $63.55 making your total $963.55

I would be putting it on a New Holland T2220, which has a lift capacity of about 1600 lbs. Any thoughts?

Just took delivery of my new Kabota L 3400. I have watched this thread and others to determine what grapple to buy for this rig. Seems like the Long RBG2 48 is the answer. Weight is a big factor. The long unit is 325. The Kabota bucket is 300. So it's about a wash, no extra weight to cut into your overall lifting capacity. The brand Millonzi came up also. I can't stand bad customer service, and it sounds like they have a problem. My local Long dealer called the Long factory, they ANSWERED their phone, and said they could ship within a week. I'm just waiting for the freight quote right now. All the other brands were well over 500 lbs. I'll let everyone know if they follow through in a timely manner.

WRLong is a great company. They do however force you to go through a dealer (just about any business can become a WRLong dealer overnight) and therefore there is a middleman to pay. I don't recall the price of the WRLong 48 inch basic grapple (not the RBG2 which is a more expensive clamshell style) but I believe it is at least a couple hundred more than the Millonzi. Everyone likes their grapple no matter what brand so I don't think there is much to argue with regard to capability or quality. WRLong is certainly accessable by phone and always helpful (I have one of their 4n1 buckets but a Millonzi grapple). Millonzi is generally pretty responsive but as this thread shows they are a smaller operation and have fallen down sometimes on response time to phone calls.

From what you have posted, it looks like it is designed clearly with skidsteer in mind. The flat couplers are one giveaway and the other is the 470lb weight:eek: . No way you want to put a 470lb grapple on a 1600lb capacity loader. I would add that given the materials you list I'm surprised the weight is as much as 470lb....are you sure of the weight.

In contrast the Millonzi LD48 has half inch steel outer tines and 3/8 inch inner tines but weighs only about 300lbs. The Millonzi would leave you with 1300lbs lift while the Markham would leave only 1130lbs. I cannot recall the weight of the smallest new WRLong grapple but am pretty sure it is closer to the Millonzi than the Markham.

I agree on the weight! I'd like to buy the Millionzi, however, I have been unable to get in touch with anyone there either by phone, fax or e-mail. I noticed that John was a member of this forum, so I sent him a private message earlier today. Hopefully I will hear something soon. If anyone has had any luck contacting Millionzi within the last month, I sure like to hear how they did it so that I could try the same.

I went with the Long RGB-2 54" grapple for my MX5000. They make a really good unit. A grapple is so darn handy to have that even my wife told me I should have bought is sooner.

BTW: they are a great help when cutting wood. just grab the tree and lift it to the desired height, and walk down the log with chainsaw cutting it up. Then pick it up and load the truck with cut wood. Use it to clean up the brush too.

I am very puzzled about Millonzi not responding to people. EVERY time I called them when trying to work out a unit for my tractor they were there and tried to help.

The WR Long looks like a nice grapple.

I'm very surprised about the millonzi customer service thing. That was not my experience with them.

Now that is high praise and should be quoted by other potential purchasers when the CFO asks difficult questions.:)

It was not my experience either. Even though they did not get the grapple to fit they were always willing to work with me. John even gave me his personal cell # to cantact him with any other issues. They gave me my money back when they got their grapple back.

That's too bad if they really have gone out of business or are reorganizing. The LD48 has been a great product and there must be at least 20-30 TBNers who bought it in the last couple of years. Everyones been happy as best I can tell and it is certainly a great value.

Maybe they just shut down for a summer break. That is pretty weird to leave the phones unattended if they did but I recall PowerTrac does that each summer for a week or so too. Maybe just wishful thinking on my part.

You'd think they would shut down their website or at least leave it up with a message that says they are out of business.

Doesn't look good...their main number 800 995 6552 is "not in service at this time". Too bad. They made a great product (especially the LD48) and sold it for less than what you could get grapples for through dealers.

Luckily, WR Long came out with a lower priced similar style grapple a few months ago, probably in response to losing sales to Millonzi on their more expensive (and no more capable) clamshell types. I hope WRLong continues to offer the basic single arm grapple as it is all most CUT owners will ever need.

Thanks Island Tractor. I guess that I will give up on them and go instead with the W.R. Long 48" open bucket grapple. It weights a little more (357 lbs), and cost slightly more ($1200). However they are within driving distance, and I can save the shipping, so the total cost would probably not be that much different.

As a last ditch effort, I called their number for their facility in TN. The phones have also been disconnected at that facility. Since they are a small company (22 employees), it seems likely that they have gone out of business.
