Mini baler

Does anyone have any experience with one? We wondered if it would just be too slow for 75 acres? It would be convenient as some of the fields are rough or the access to them are rough.

75 acres of a hayfield is no place for a mini hay baler. Unless you only wanna do about 5 acres of it. But for the 75 acres by full-size equipment.

I've never seen the purpose of the mini round balers.
Just get a square baler, they stack better.
In large size round is just fine because you aren't handling it by hand.

Wanna talk mini-baler? An acquaintance had a miniature hand baler. He baled lawn grass and passed out the 3" long x 1½ x 1½" bales to friends. I still have one somewhere in the basement.
It was labor intensive, hand cut the grass with scissors, gather the clippings, then hand feed and crank the tiny baler by hand.
Back to the topic; I put wagon loads of those small round bales when I was a kid. There were 5 neighborhood boys working as a crew, The crew got 10 cents for every bale put in the hay loft of the barn. One day we got in almost 2,000 bales, that was $5 ea. for about 10 hrs work.
Point is, it IS labor intensive

Need to narrow down on the size. There is a world of difference between 3x4 round bale,bales, at 400-600 lbs per bale and the micro round balers, like the 20"x28", that weigh 50 lbs. I think there are some new, 4x4 balers around, imported for Japan and Italy.

Yes. The reason primarily would be cost for sure. But the other issue is some of these smaller fields have hollows, dips you’d have to mow around. Access to one would be 3 miles along the side of the river. No road. They baled up there 50 years ago. Square valet. But it was a little better access than it is now. Another field is also across the river. That field is good. 40 acres. But trail across the river is not great I would fear hauling a square valet would be too big . Possibly breaking something.
