PF -- Thanks for the feedback. We had a Honda hatchback and it was a great car, so naturally when it came time to look for a new car the Honda lot was our first stop. But none of them, even the Si which we seriously looked at, moved us like the Mini did. Nor did the Acuras, Mazdas, Nissans and VWs we drove.
We watched a couple of local Minis this past winter and noticed that fitted with good snow tires they did just fine in our conditions. Can't same the same for a couple that came up from Boston wearing their performance tires! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Like you, cars have always been appliances to me. I shopped with an eye toward max utility. But now, at this point in my life, I'm thinking it's about time for some fun. And the Mini Cooper is about as fun as they get!
So we ordered our first Mini Cooper April 11th. He finished production May 2nd and is currently on the dock in Southampton UK waiting for a ship to carry him to New York. We named him Ernest T Nugget (the T is for Troublefree), and should take delivery in about a month.
By the way, tracking his progress has been a lot of fun, and using my military background I look forward to tracking the progress of the cargo ship he rides on! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
