Can someone relate any experience they have had digging a ditch or trench with the mini-hoe? I have seen the posting where a large dirt pile was knocked down but I wonder how much trouble it is to constantly reposition when digging and dumping the bucket. It seems that it would be very annoying but I was hoping someone could relate their actual experience. Thanks.

The articulation of the machine can be used to swing the bucket to the left or right side of the trench to dump the hoe bucket.

Clearly the mini hoe is a low cost, reduced capability, attachment as compared to a standard backhoe on a tractor. Only you can judge whether the mini hoe is suitable for your uses and situation.

I just finished digging a 150-foot trench for a brick wall. Its 6 inches deep and 15 inches wide. As you know, the mini hoe bucket is only 9 inches wide so I had to make a double wide cut. It takes practice but it did the job. Depending on the soil conditions you will either drag the teeth backwards to make a cut or you will curl the bucket and reverse digging a cut the length of the bucket and dump. The dumping is a challenge. You will over steer or under steer at first but you will soon find the happy medium, which will allow you to dump and return to the same spot. The soil condition will be the biggest factor to stay on a straight line or not.

I dug a trench two feet deep which was 80' long. I like the fact that you can move along the trench without having to lift outriggers and turn around and re-position. That being said, the outriggers etc give you better stability during heavy break out forces.

I love it. Like Charlie said, better than using a shovel. Now if it would just paint my house.

No problem. You suspend a gallon of paint from the hook on the Bubenberg multi-purpose boom. Drop a 1/4 stick of dynamite in paint, hoist boom quickly next to house.
Repeat three more times.
