But in your profile you show yourself as living in the "corrupt rust belt". Just because the economy isn't good where you live doesn't mean it's that way everywhere. Those union jobs that paid "great money and benefits" are mostly gone because the workers priced themselves right out of a job. It's a global economy now, and if you can't compete you lose.

Sad but true. And those jobs aren't coming back. Long gone are the days when you could just show up at a factory and they'd teach you what you needed OJT. Some trades you can still learn on the job, but you have to be willing to do the grunt work and work your way up. Other trades like plumbing or electrician generally require some schooling to get in the door.
Like I said, robotics have taken most of those jobs, whether they left my area or not. And your heartless comments about the rust belt don’t really ring of any compassion for your fellow man. I don’t think the poor guy like my grandfather, who worked 35 years at Westinghouse building submarine turbines had much to do with union negotiations.

Keep in mind you are talking to a self made man who wasn’t given much and built my businesses working Sundays and holidays to get ahead. Very few people appreciate the value of hard work and sacrifice more than me

BS. I don't care if I insult the city dwellers. They do not respect rural areas. Why should I respect them?

The major cities are cess pools built with greedy money. Need I say more.

Sounds like a serious chip on your shoulder, I’m struggling to understand your complaint beyond country good / city bad.

Both are extremely necessary for our country to survive.

I’ve lived and worked in both. Currently, where I live closest town 15 minutes away is 1,500 people. I work in a 8M people megaplex. Neither can exist without the other.

Now if country good / city bad has to do with representation as much of this thread started with… I don’t disagree with the notion that city centers making decisions for rural areas like banning small ICE is a terrible idea.

Cess pools is a real stretch… perhaps you should define what makes all cities ‘cess pools’ in your mind. Is it demographic? Ideals? $$?

You have pointed out lots of problems. The solutions? Get the freeloaders off the government tit. The government is the problem, not the solution.

No doubt I’m a huge supporter of less government handouts across the board. From immigration, to farmers, to tax credits for spitting out more kids, to benefits for a family that won’t marry due to reduced government support, even myself and whatever those stimulus payments were during the COVID reign… why the hell I needed to be stimulated I have no idea.

I have no fix for this. There is no political situation I can imagine that would start turning this back. Complete shame.

When the masses are connected to the tit, the vote to get the masses off will never prevail.

Yes, I have a serious chip on my shoulder. It started two years ago when the defund the police movement started, the rioting and looting from criminals took place, the shoplifting permitted, the no bail reform, gun legislation that punishes the law abiding citizens, mandates like the one we're discussing.

Did these social ills develop in Americas rural areas? Watching this take place in OUR COUNTRY and not saying something is agreeing with it.

Please keep in mind SOME farmers are NOT on government handouts. Outside of not having to pay state sales tax on farm machinery, I have not received ONE PENNY for farming hay since day one.
Thank you.

This entire thread is about cities of people deciding how people trying to survive outside the city should live and work. I can tell you I could exist exist exceedingly well without city people and especially them telling me what to do. My customers and client base are all suburban or rural.
I don‘t think the inverse is true. If, or should I say WHEN these people legislate us out of existence by taking away our fuels, fertilizers and tools, they better start liking all their food imported, and imported people fixing all their problems with their cars and solar panels. I can tell you right now, we are already more than 1/2 way there. Your food will be processed and all of it will come from off shore. Your fresh food will come from Mexico and Central America, Your batteries for your EV’s will come from China along with all your electronics, clothing and appliances.
City people have the legislative power, now let’s see how your vaunted “democracy” works. I still hear one of our dear leaders tell us about how she lost the election even with more of the popular vote. That’s called a representative republic and I hope we can keep that.
Voting us out of existence by taking away the very tools, machines and fuels we need to make your food and the products you need is a woke fools errand

There are excellent jobs in the US in Advanced Manufacturing - CNC Machinists, Automation Technicians, Maintenance Technicians, Robotic Technicians, Engineers of all sorts. The low skilled and unskilled manufacturing jobs did go overseas. Unfortunately too many working age men are waiting for yesterdays jobs to return rather than get the skills required for today's jobs. Adapt or suffer the consequences.

And every city does turn into an instant cesspool as soon as the trash and/or sewer people dont come to work. One of the “lowest” class (blue collar) of people have earned 0 respect from the elites and politicians. That will turn in a panic when they realize there is no one left to do their bidding. The new “slave trade”, importing manual laborers.

But, but, but..... it's production in the US. We still produce goods and services. It's just not the same goods and services that were produced in the past. Things change.

Quick show of hands...

Who here wants to go work on an assembly line in a factory doing piece work?

Who wants to go and work in the furnace at a steel mill?

For that matter, I don't recall anyone on TBN ever mentioning that that is what they do for a living. Maybe they did and lost their job, but that hasn't been mentioned. Maybe they did and advanced off the line. But not many people WANT to work on an assembly line or in a hot steel mill when they can work some other job that's more comfortable.

I've seen some folks here that did maintenance at factories, or drove trucks to and from factories, but I see not one person on here ever saying that they sure would like to get a job working the line at a factory.

Everyone wants to complain about how things were, but in reality, not many of them actually want that job should it open up.
A) I farm and do want that job, desperately trying to leave that legacy for the grandkids and beyond. Most farmers I know are willing to do whatever to fix and repair stuff (tractor, truck, barn, house) Many are employed outside the farm because the pay stinks but we try to struggle ahead. I (and many others) were raised to earn our keep and to be productive using the land. My masters degree did little when we switched to custom home building, but taking other people’s money did keep the farm alive. You have to look hard though, because crappy housing (apartments, townhomes and condos) are closing in.

B) I want to play at farming type stuff

C) how many unemployed people do you know that can afford a tractor?

Funny how it is always us outside the big cities who have to adapt to their dogma, dictates, rules and regs.
We give up our dreams, careers, lifestyles and money so they can pass their very questionable agendas.
Havent seen anyone outside the beltway or the capitals of the states do anything but continue to cut, regulate, tax and burden the very people that feed them, provide their fuel, fix their crap and keep their houses warm, clean and safe.

There’s some real uppity people that are going to be very inconvenienced in ways they never thought possible if we keep going this way a few more years.
