Minor annoyances

The little "turtle/hare" plastic switch toggle fell off the TC35D while I was plowing today. I have no idea where. But it shouldn't have fallen off in the first place.

It's only minor since I have the turtle/hare buttons on the loader joystick, but I'll get a replacement.

The other thing I didn't really dig was the curl directions of the loader joystick got a little stiff after about a half hour of loader use. I read about that here a while back; this is the first time I've encountered it.

On the whole a very good experience using this tractor though.

No comment on the button, it shouldn't have fallen off, but things happen. As far as the curl, I assume because you were plowing you weren't using the curl much? Did the fluid in the cylinders or lines just get stiff from lack of use in the cold? Or do you think it ws something else. When I'm working in the cold, I periodically cycle all the controls to keep the warm fluid circulating. It seems to help.
Just a thought.

I noticed the first couple of days after getting my NH that when bumped the top of the rocker switch (turtle/rabbit) that you mentioned indeed pops right off of the electrical base of the switch. It snaps back on easy enough but whenever bumped it is sure to fall off and get lost. I don't use mine as the switch built into the joystick is in a much handier position. Maybe a small piece of clear package tape will prevent loss in the future for you. As far as I am concerned the switch is redundant and could be eliminated altogether.

I like having both the joy stick mounted and fender mounted hi-low control. I also use the joystick mounted control most often. But if working when its below zero I've got my heavy mits trying to keep my hands warm and sometimes the little buttons on the joystick are hard find. Its just easier to reach over and flick the fender mounted switch.

Hopefully this all changes when I get the Curtis Cab with heater installed. Hopefully I can by with a lighter pair of gloves.

My turtle/rabbit switch didn't go askew, but the cruise control switch did. Like the other guys noted, it snapped back into place.

Another little anoyance to me has always been my steering wheel tilt "paddle" knob. I don't have long legs, but as I turn and twist in the seat, my knees constantly bump that knob. About a month ago, I looked down and the knob was missing. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Only the metal knurled pin remained on the little actuator arm. I haven't bothered replacing the knob, but I wrapped it in electrical tape so I wouldn't jam the actuator arm into my knees. I may try to find a suitable knob replacement at the local Elliot's True Value hardware store. I haven't priced the replacement, but I'd rather have something smaller that I'm a lot less likely to break. Anyone else have any "issues" with that knob?

As far as the curl, I assume because you were plowing you weren't using the curl much? Did the fluid in the cylinders or lines just get stiff from lack of use in the cold? Or do you think it ws something else.)

My plow uses those hydraulics for blade angle, so they were in use the whole time.

But in fact, the problem occurred while I was using the loader with the bucket on, so the curl was getting a lot of use when the problem showed up.

I like the fender mounted one because with gloves on the joystick one is a little hard to use. I am thinking of taping over that one so I don't accidentally trip the rabbit mode.

Jim I have never experienced that problem. Is the paddle larger on the 45D than the 40D? I'm long legged and have my seat back as far as I can get it maybe this helps my situation?

Not anymore! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif At least mine isn't. Actually, I have my seat pretty far forward and I "hug" the console with my knees sometimes when I'm going downhill in rough terrain. I'll admit it might just be my own fault, but I do use my seat belt almost all the time too. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same thing. ...I'll put you in the "No" column. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
