Does anyone have any experience with Miracle Truss metal buildings. I am planning on building a 60x80x14 barn and really like the open ceilings of their design. I live in Southeast VA and we don't get much snow...only an occasional hurricane.
Any inputs as to their ease of assembly and long term stability.

Thanks. Pete

Pete,

I put up a similar building from a company called Perka. It was fairly straight forward and it took two of us to put it up. Do a search for Miracle Truss and Perka and you will find some more info.

I went with Perka because they have different truss designs to pick from depending on your application. Last time I checked, Miracle Truss only has one.

I built a 60x75x18 aircraft hangar a year ago. I priced out Miracle Truss and they were really high. I ended up with a regular I-beam building. Might be more difficult to do that type yourself though.

I built a 48' x 60' x 14' Miracle Truss building several years ago and like it. I rented a boom truck to erect and had the frame up in a couple of days. Using 2x6 wood girts and purlins makes it easy to frame in add-ons, particularly adding windows. I also put in a mezzanine in part of the building with "office" space underneath an d storage above.

Remember that wind and snow load factors are based on truss spacing. Because of my location I was able to derate the building and use 15' spacing on the trusses.

When I bought I thought the price was reasonable and they were very helpful. I don't think that they are the same company now.

Glad to see some inputs... I think that 14' walls may have been a bit optimistic.. I can keep cost down with a 12' and the wind load should not be as great. It's going to be awhile before the final plans get done, right now I'm looking at cutting into one of the hillsides to set the barn down a bit lower. I don't want it looking like an industrial park from the road /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I got the info package in the mail... the wife was impressed too. That's a good start.
Thanks again all... Pete.
