Mismatched tires front and rear. Turf/R1

Came across this Massey. I've never seen turf tires mixed with R1s?? Plus if I was guessing, it looks like both are mounted on the wheels that would have been r 4 from the factory?.

nyone know if this would mess up the gearing in 4wd?? I can't find much info on that.

Also, what kind of traction do turf tires really get?

I wouldn’t think mismatched fronts to rears have much of an effect since tractors don’t move fast like cars

Don't know your specific tractor
BUT
if the front to back rolling ratios are within 5% or so U should be OK.
Usually the fronts lead by that 5%.
There exist tire web sites that will give U the diameters of just about any tire made and U can go from there.
Your owners manual will start U off with the original specs, if not go to tractor data.com.

I had a tractor that used narrow fronts and I actually substituted wider rear rider mower rims/tires with great success, no longer sunk in soft wet soil and was great on snow duties.

It's all about Rolling Circumference Index (RCI). As Piloon said, do some Google searching and you can find RCI charts for all types of tires. Then you need to know what tires came on the tractor front and rear. Then check the RCI chart to see if either has changed?

It is very critical that these ratios not be changed much. Extremely hard on the drivetrain when in 4wd if they have been.

Turf tire traction is totally condition dependent and expected use dependent.

My cub cadet 7260 has turfs and it does good on dry ground, o grade about half mile of gravel road , and it has no problem with traction .on mud thats another story.But overall they do well.

I'm not sure what the stock size was and there's no info on tractor data. I messaged the seller ND waiting to hear on tire sizes

I did some tire searching and an 8x16 tire is very very close in Diameter to the 31-15.5x15 y'all think it is. But again no idea if that came stock or not

I put R1s on the rear of a small 4wd tractor with R4s on the front, after changing from OEM R4s to R3s on the rear. Just did as others mentioned on matching the rolling circumference and since the R1 tire was much narrower (a desired trait) than the previous tires, I needed a different wheel which worked out just fine. Now I have better traction and a smoother ride.
