thavil (sir!),
Thanks for the advice and believe me you're not the first one. I start ACAP in 12 months and the VA guys said the same thing. "Get everything documented." And please don't aploligize for the lecture. All informaion is greatly appreciated. How's my big sister tractor BX24 doing in MD ? You haven't mentioned any seat time lately... :) :) :)

flusher,
I'm glad I'm not in your shoes. Judging by those well documented photos, I see it's looking extremely dry in California. Man I wish the water gods would take our Missoui rains and transfer them to where you all are at in Sacramento. Please keep us updated with the fire hazards. AND KEEP THAT 64 MASSEY PARADE BEAUTY OUT OF HARM'S WAY !!! No fighting fires with her !

flusher,
Just an admin question; how do you get your photos to pop up like that ? My little "thumbnail" pics would speed up the process for our fellow TBN viewers if I could make them appear as big as yours do on delivery. Any suggestions ???

MT:

I upload my digicam images to my Photobucket account. No charge for that account. Then under "Share this image" options, I click on the "IMG code" option, select the string (a copy process) and paste that string into the TBN reply window to make the image appear.

For example, here's the IMG string for that photo of the 5525 and disc

[IMG-]http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa85/pma361/Firebreak/DSCF0169Small.jpg[/IMG-]

I added the "-" characters after the "IMG" strings you can see the entire string. If I edited out the "-" characters, the image would appear instead of the string.

One other thing. I run Windows XP. I've installed the Windows XP Resizer feature in Windows Explorer. It's a free download from Microsoft that you can find at the MS Power Toys website

Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP

I have my digicam set to produce 350-400 KB image files. If you upload this size image to Photobucket and then paste the IMG string into the TBN reply window, the resulting image is too large for the sceen. So I use the Resizer and select the "Small" size to reduce the image so it fits on a 640x480 screen.

This method sounds complex, but it's really pretty straightforward.

Hope this helps.

Great to hear that you are ahead of the VA game. My BX24 has been very busy lately on my 7 acre horse farm. Between mowing both pastures to keep the weeds down, dragging horse poo with my harrow, mowing my yard, cleaning out drainage ditches, repairing my back yard from having a new well put in, doing a lot of FEL work, it's getting lots of use. I did just recently purchase a 12'X24' pre-built garage to put her in to treat her right.

thavil (sir),
I see you're up early this morning. OK, maybe not for east coast time. I'm going to be at the chromeshop all day today. They called yesterday and said to bring my tractor in so I must assume the exhaust pipe and canopy are ready to be installed. Like I said before though, I'm not going to hold my breath.

I've played around a bit digging holes with my newly installed tooth bar. Talk about a difference. It slices through the rocky soil much better than before. I'm anxious for our new home to be finished so we can move out of government quarters and I can get serious with all my projects I have planned for our property. The first one is by far the largest and that's the creation of a backyard pond. That toothbar is going to get a workout.

Smart move on your part by getting a shed for your tractor. A little expensive I'm sure but a good investment in the long run. Sounds like it has enough room for all your attachments as well. Post some pics when you get the chance.

Hope you are better soon MissouriThunder! With over 100 posts now I can only imagine what your thread will be up to WITH seat time!

Thavil, over 100 degrees, wow, I can't imagine. And 3 years of drought, scary. Good idea on the fire breaks, I never have thought of that sort of thing up where we live. Have you had a fire near your place in the past?

jimmyj - That was actually flusher in Northern California-Tehama Co. that is having those issues. I live in southern Maryland and we are having the best spring that I can remember. Not too hot and plenty of rain to keep the grass growing in my horse pastures. I just had to mow my front field again even with the horses grazing on it.

During the week days, I get up at 4:20am each morning to go to work at Andrews AFB (I know, a retired Army guy working for the Air Force!). I try to sleep in on the weekends but usually can't.

How did it go at the chrome shop today? Did anything get installed?

A toothbar is my next purchase, can't wait to get one. I have bought so many other items for my BX, I now need to space out my purchases. Good luck with your pond, it should be fun.

Attached are a few pictures with all my attachments inside. I put more stuff in the garage today but didn't take any updated pictures.

jimmyj,
Yes, I think it was flusher you were referring to out in California but I know what you meant. I can't even spell thunder correctly (MissouriThuder). I noticed in yet another previous post I spelled Missouri "Missoui." Now that's funny. Oh well.

thavil,
I had a sneaky suspicion you got up a bit early but never would have guessed 0420. Judging by the photos I'd say you have plenty of space in your new shed for your tractor as well as all your attachments.

Didn't get a home run at the chrome shop today but I did see how far they have come (or lack there of). The pipe has not been chromed yet and they needed my tractor to gage the angle. Seems they were 20 degrees off when they slid it over the muffler giving it the wrong angle. They want me to come back on Monday after they get the correct angle and then get started on the canopy. This has been a lengthy process but will hopefully pay off in the end.

Well, not much to add, really, but I have to admit I'm enjoying your post, Missouri. (Wife's folks are from Kirksville area.) It's true- your enthusiasm is contagious!

I entered the "tractor world" last February with a M-F GC2310 and have really appreciated it. Use it mostly for snow blowing, but got a thumb and have been attacking dead wood to convert for firewood; thumb works extremely well.

Haven't pulled any trains lately, however.... Hey, what's a train, anyway? :D Grandson always loves to watch all the trains go by LaPlata (MO) when we're out there. Wife's in Columbia this weekend for a nephew's wedding; guess I'll hear about the tornado when she returns. Her brother still farms in Hurdland/Brashear. You folks have got some GREAT fishing in farm ponds out there!

Nice hat, BTW! I wore green back in '69-'72. Take care with that foot & shoulder- don't overdo it!
