Well, this is proving to be a very informative exchange isn't it!
Yes Rox, I did use a laser for the tables. I also put the legs of the support on adjustable feet for fine tuning and to accomodate any future settling etc. And I'm very much looking forward to the new freedom of my Workmate table. It is very handy but not when it's tied up with the chop saw nearly all the time. I've made a couple of tabletops for it, one heavy duty for my bench tools and one that's now covered in hundreds of layers of paint which is my painting station.
Tom, thanks for the link, I think I've seen it before. I've recently moved up from my shop vac to a "real" dust collector but have much to do yet before the MDF is a joy to work with. I do like the stuff though, as it is so stable and easy to cut. I made my countertops in the bar area out of it and they turned out very well after I added the formica.
Scott, I had considered a ceiling mounted air purifier in our old house and may reconsider that now. I'm still young enough that I'm sure I could benefit later in life.
And B8FISH, my original concepts had every bell and whistle including built in clamps and tapes. I decided to skinny the project down so I could actually get it done. I'll likely still add the stick on tapes and I think I can still route a dado to mount an aluminum track for stops/clamps. I like that system though for now I can continue to use a QuickGrip and block of wood.
Thanks again everyone for the great ideas /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
