My neighbor recently bought a MT300D at an auction. It's in original condition with 900 hours on the meter, faded paint, a little rust, but overall in good shape and everything appears to work. The tires, probably original, are very cracked, split, and worn but hold air. It has an old KMW 116 loader that looks really heavy duty and works well.

I haven't been able to find much info about this model other than it's a U.S. model, 30hp, 3 cyl. diesel, produced in the mid to late 80's.

I am wondering if there were very many of these procuced?
Is there a grey market equivalent? The MT2501D looks just like it.
How about parts availability?
Is this a good tractor? Any know issues?

I have found shop manuals, owners manuals, parts manuals, and even a sales brochure for this model.

Also, my neighbor may keep it but he originally bought it to resell at a local auction. If he does intend to sell it then I may try to buy it. How do you set a value? I can't find any sales history or any currently for sale. He paid $4800 for it.

any and all experiences or opinions appreciated,
thanks,
John

if you like the tractor i think it is a good buy.Valley Power have it listed on their site. i am pretty sure u could get parts and manuals for it. i boughr a mitsubishi d 1850fd and when it arrived the 3 point dont work. so if it is working good u are on the right track. the value i dont know.a new loader is about 3000.so 4800plus 1500 equal 6300. my 2 cents

I can supply parts & manuals for it. They aren't a real common model.

Well I did buy the tractor and I love it. What a powerhouse. Especially with the the front wheel drive engaged. The loader is really strong too. I bought a box blade and rotary cutter Saturday and it has rained so much that I cannot play with them.

The ignition switch will stick in the Start position and the first time I operated the tractor I burned up the starter. Live and learn. A local starter shop installed a new armature for $65 and it starts great. I need a new foot throttle cable. I cannot imagine running the brush hog all day without it.

I have sent inquiries to Sheaffer’s and Valley Power about parts availability.

Thanks for the replies...

John.

Hi, I own and operate a MT300D for 4 years now. Added a Backhoe and a 60 inches snow blower to it. Great machine.

As far as service and parts are concerned, you might be interested to know that any Case IH dealer can service it and provide parts since it is the exact same tractor as a Case IH 275.
