Any ideas on why the fuel and temp gauge are not working

Did you first check the fuses?

If all the fuses are good, check for frayed wires due to rodents gnawing on them.

Some equipment does not use twelve volts for the instruments. Check your schematic, there may be a five volt (or thereabouts) regulator in their supply line.
