A lot of engine changes were required when Tier IV emission standards kicked in. So an engine change was not necessarily good, nor bad, just required to meet regulations. I think about 25hp is the cutoff on whether you are subject to these regulations. I understand my Massey SCUT is not subject and my Massey CUT is.

I agree on the startup smoke on my Massey GC1710. Belches and coughs (more in winter) on startup but is quickly purring like a kitten. Or a tiger!

I dont have power in my barn so I wont be able to plug it in. I’d like the least cold blooded and easiest tractor to start in the cold as I can find.

You should understand that your situation is unique. It seems only you have had problems that are specific, to you alone. I think you tried to use a compact tractor in place of a large ag tractor and you paid the price for it. Abuse should not be viewed as operating a tractor within it's limits.

Think what you will. I got large tractors so that is not the issue. Others have had front axle trould and after 3rd time shelling agco admitted to me that that model has a weak front end. Guys were having trouble with overheat issues. Got to run with the side panels off to keep cool. Engineering flaw in my opinion cause heat can't escape from under the hood efficiently. These tractors won't start in the cold, guys are being told and sold block heaters by agco. I been around tractors all my life and got the bigger stuff, I've never had the trouble that this machine has given me. It may not be a mf,

It may not be an an mf, but there is a guy on here putting work into his front axle as we speak. Say what you, these subcompact tractors are not any thing close to the old stuff. I had a b7100 Kubota years ago and it was a basket case. If you got 75+ hp tractors at your disposal, it makes no sense to overwork a foreign made 30 hp tractor. As I say it is what it is.

If I do a search on this tractor for problems there's really nothing that pops up. Doesn't seem like it's necessarily common for these to have issues.

Cold weather is tough on any diesel's starting. I"m fortunate in that I do NOT live in a cold climate: can get down in the teens here, but not a lot of that- everything I have (and I mostly have diesels) will still start in a normal fashion, though most will rattle and cough a bit at first.

"Bigger" does NOT mean better. The RIGHT tool for the job is what is NEEDED. I would no more attempt to use my NX5510 to do smaller jobs that require precision and close navigating as I would look to try and use my B7800 to haul a dump trailer of material. My B7800, however, before I got my NX5510, was tasked to do every thing that it could do, and what it could do it did- never breaking (other than a loader cylinder blew out MANY years ago; other than that it's gone 1,800 hrs with no problems).

I'd put my B7800 up against any other similarly sized 30hp tractor. Yeah, it's "foreign," so what?

You want to talk dependability and reliability??? My 1958 730 John Deere diesel has over 20000 hrs on it. I did have to go into the engine and do a little clutch work. Not bad for a tractor bumping 60 years of service and 20000 + hours. My allis Chalmers has over 14000 hours and has provided 40+ years of service. My 1978 b7100 Kubota went to the junk yard a long long long time ago. I am going to half to go into the engine on the allis pretty soon, but 14000+ hours I can't complain. My mf started falling apart just shy of 900 hrs. That little b7100 had about 1000 hrs on it. If you can't get at least 4000-5000 hours with out a bunch of problems, it is basocially a throw away disposable tractor. It has a big durability problem.

My B7800 is only 11 years old. I"ll NEVER even be able to see 50 or 60 years old, so the point is pretty much moot. "Reliability" means that every time I need to use it it works. I'm pretty sure that until such time that I am able to operate a tractor my B7800 will still be up to the task.

USE matters. I've done a LOT of clearing (with a lot more to do). I'd have your tractors (not 4wd?) stuck in a heartbeat: in which case they'd surely last a lot longer (not being able to be used):laughing: I've got excavators stuck!

I got your equivalent in a massey. You looking at 2-2 1/2 times the tractor in that jd and allis. Your not gonna stay with me. During spring thaw you put one bale on the back for weight and one on the front to feed. I've cut ruts nearly knee deep. You Kubota would end up bellied up/ high centered just like my massey. Clearing??? Unless you do alot of sawing your not going to clear much with 30 hp. You weight down these old ag tractors and you'll be surprised what they'll do.while the allis will flat was that jd, the jd will smoke thAt massey. The only thing with that jd is it is 2 cylinder and all them old 2 lingers are light on the front. You gotta be careful the front wants to raise up. The thing with hydrostatic drive is going forward and backward is alot more convenient because you don't have to change gears.

I've got a 2005 MF1533 Iseki and it has been bulletproof. Only issues not our fault have been hub seal on front axle. We've put it through it's paces, too, and has right at 1k hours.
