Mixing Kerosene and Diesel

Or, if you happen to have a little bit of leftover ATF or power steering fluid, throw some of it in, if you're worried over lubricity.

Actually HFRR lab test show that adding oil to diesel fuel does very little to increase lubricity of the fuel. On top of that what are all those additives and polymers doing to the fuel system, making deposits. Adding 2 cycle oil does increase lubricity but it's usually a lot cheaper to add a actual diesel fuel additive. The mix ratios of fuel additives is usually somewhere from 1:1,000 to 1:2,000, much lower than 2 ounces of 2 stroke per gallon.

No way would I add oil or tranny fluid to diesel fuel.

When I had my diesel truck at fuel filter time I'd fill the filter with tranny oil. Did this for years and the truck didn't know if it was on tranny or diesel. This tip came by several truckers. Now with the newer diesels I would relook at the process to see if it is still viable but after I started do this I never had to have an injector pump rebuilt or replaced. Used motor oil? Probably not. Tranny fluid? As long as it wasn't contaminated, probably.

I use two stroke oil in my diesel ford engine at the rate of 1 oz per gallon. This is cheaper than using powerservice additives. I would not use atf or other oils that were not designed to be burned. Also, don't put atf into your on-road engine since it is red and traces of red fuel in your tank can be trouble.

The 7.3 liter powerstroke engine responded very well to the 2-stroke oil. Immediately quieted down the injectors. Do your research to find that you will get the most lubricity per dollar by using 2-stroke oil. I read that HPFF study too and found that the top lubricity additives were NOT commonly available and were experimental. 2-stroke oil, ashless, is available at walmart for 10$ per gallon. 128 ounces per gallon so the 10$ treats 128 gallons.
