Mixing synthetic brands

Mixing brands only servers to weaken the additive package, it will not improve anything. Will it hurt anything, NO but you should only mix brands as a last resort.

Its sort of like mixing two brands of beer, its does not taste any better but you will still get a buzz.

Will it hurt anything ?? probably not. Will you gain anything by doing it ? probably not Would I do it ? only if I had no other choice

Synthetic oils are not all the same. Before I became an oil and grease tech with my company I thought that all grease and oils were the same as long as they had the same numbers, ect. However through eudcation I now know better, there are some synthetics that will not mix with others and when the right mix is made big trouble awaits. I agree if I needed a quart to get home I would add to the oil in the motor, but would drain it and change asap.
