You may be right about Ashland. As for the synthetic, I'm almost positive that I saw a jug of SUDT with synthetic written on it. Not certain though.

My wife's cousin owns an ARCO distributorship and they have a fluid that says essentially the same and one that is supposed to be a substitute for SUDT. I have used that as well as Ambra, Case, in addition to the Kubota stuff; probably a couple more. I don't worry about it as long as it is a good quality lubricant.

Thanks guys, I feel a little better about mixing it now. The "manual Tranny" 3010 that I have takes 41 quarts. That's over 10 GALLONS, which is why I didn't change it. It was barely visable in the sight glass so it was low....how much? Don't know, I lost LESS than a pint in the filter change and have added 3 GALLONS and it is STILL showing low on the glass??? Weird. I like the idea of 75W synthic for the front. Thanks again:thumbsup:

Me either, but I remember an old thread on here in which it was not though there were rumors they were going synthetic.

My understanding is that udt is kubotas name for universal tractor fluid, or UTF, and hy guard is deere's name. They are not motor oil. I'm pretty sure they are both made by mobil oil company and mobil calls it mobil fluid 424. I have a 55 gallon drum of that I use in my Deere earth moving equipment which calls for a UTF meeting the standard J20C. Super UTD is a synthetic version and therefore is probably better but is also probably worth it's weight in gold. As for the axle fluid, most UTF's meet a GL-4 specification which is what you're looking for in a gear oil,or an 75, 80, or 90 weight gear oil. We use mobil UTF, or mobil fluid 424, in final drives, hydraulic systems, and axles of most of our John Deere equipment. That's why it's UNIVERSAL!!!! Beings that I stock a drum of it, I use it in BX 2350 with no problems. I bet if you went to mobile site, they would say that mobil fluid 424 meets kubotas specs. Hope this helps

Oooooops!!! Nope, neither is true.

Kubota does contract with Ashland Oil and Sudt is NOT synthetic, merely a lower viscosity with improved additives properties.
