Tires Mixing turf and R1 tires on 4WD CUT?

Neither can we, but hey, it was free, and that's what it came with. I'm just wondering if the turfs were put on to help keep from sinking into the sand?? Since we have basically mud, clay and rocks here in VT, I'm out of my league when talking about sand.

In "just" sand, it would not be a "huge" thing, but as you wrote, there are things in the sand. Being that it was a free tractor, I would say spring for the new tires. Its money well spent. Tires may be costly, but they are cheeper than the hard parts that will break. )</font>

Yeah, I told him he needed to look at new tires to match up the ratios properly. Our real question now is: which is better in sand, Turfs or R1's? I guess it's a question of which he needs more, floatation or traction. I just don't know the answer to that when tractoring in sand.

For sand you realy want to be on top of it, not digging down. I would eather go with turfs, or maby eaven a wider r4 tire would do the job. This is one case where r1's would probably not be best.

I saw them backwards, once, on the front of a roadgrader. I don't think the front wheels are powered on a roadgrader, but I figured it must be somehow useful for traction while backing up.

A friend bought a used tractor with Turf rears and Ag fronts. He kinda likes it. Don't know why the previous owner set it up that way, though.
