Buck,
I see what you mean. I would agree that there probably is an unfair bias with myself and many others when dealing with dealers. There is only one correlation that I can make, and its a loose one based on my own experiences and I may or maynot be speaking for others. The only other time in my life that I can think of that I have dealt with a "dealer" would be an automobile dealer. My few experiences with automobile dealers were incredibly painful and expensive. And I would say most people like myself that work on their own cars dont call the dealer first for OEM parts, they call NAPA first because they know they can get an aftermarket (insert any part) cheaper that will do the same job for sometimes half the money. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Im not the only one that has had this experience. Therefor when the word dealer comes up there is a subconscious part that comes to the surface that says "steer clear of all dealers." Unfair? yes. Human nature? yes. My point is, I know that tractor dealerships and car dealerships are very different places to do business. But, its the automatic word association that creates the unfair bias. Maybe I'm going too far out on a limb here, but I'm also interested in the sociological aspect of it.
