I have the 60" MMM on my B-3030. The mower owners manual calls for SAE90 when I change the gear oil. My dealer says they only use UDT hydro fluid, and they don't even carry SAE90. He said UDT is better, particularly in our colder climate (Toronto)

Is it alright to use Super UDT fluid?

thanks

I use super UDT in the tractor but use Valvoline Synthetic in the gear box on the MMM and Bush Hog. A Advance Store or Auto Zone is a good location to locate. I personally think the UDT is a little to thin for the gear box on a MMM. Just my thoughts.

Thanks for your responses guys. I'm still curious however, why does my dealer insist on UDT fluid. Also, I read a couple posts from other sites that state:

"Mower gearbox calls for straight weight SAE90 gear oil, but over the years we have best performance with lower heat build-up using Kubota UDT in the gearbox. This applies to front axles in Kubota tractors as well"

I might try posting in the "oil and lubrication" room, probably should have done that in the first place,
