MMM vs. rear mount finish mowers

I originally had a MMM and loved it, it was easy to use and gave IMO a great cut. However, i found it to be cumbersome when brush-cutting with it attached and taking it off and on was becoming a pain. It wasn't difficult to remove, it just took more time then I wanted to spend and there are parts of my property that I brush cut weekly, so I was removing it weekly. I started to resent it and our relationship quickly went down hill. I ended up trading in that tractor to get a bigger one with a RFM. If I could've left the MMM on all the time I would've loved it. It's like a riding mower on steroids /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

Talked over future landscaping with my wife last night and we both agreed that regardless of tractor situation we would want most new trees planted around the perimeter of yard, can't see the neighbors as much that way.

With the info at hand I'm leaning more towards a RFM. Most of the FEL'ing I'll do is on uneven terrain, lot's in the woods and I don't want to keep taking MMM off. Probably will brush cut along road fairly often too, got a ton of frontage.

This still begs the question of a novice though. Around me here in Michigan there are farm auctions all the time. How do I know what I'm looking at will fit my tractor? Are the arms on back a universal size? That doesn't seem right so how will I know what fits my tractor? New seems awful expensive, local JD dealer said around $1,900 and I'm feeling <font color="blue"> </font> really cash poor!

Your tractor is probably a Category 1 3 point hitch. It might be a Category 2 3 point hitch.

Any implement that is a Cat 1 implement will fit either a Cat 1 or a Cat 2 tractor.
