Hello all,
"Ken In NH",
Thanks for posting...I have a JD2305 and was going to make a similar post about Mobil 1, really like it. Over the years I've always run it in my small trucks and my wife's cars! Most people are put off by the cost, but when you figure out making a 'normal' oil change every 3K-4K, it actually comes out pretty close(or even cheaper) depending upon how often you change your Mobil 1, and whether or not you like changing oil often! When my wife was going to school,(approx. a 2hr. round trip), it actually increased her gas milage by 2mi/gal. But, the part we both liked was when she would leave class. Some of her classes were evening classes in the winter, and while other cars were struggling to start in the cold evening winter wheaher, hers would start, no stuggling! No, I'm not a Mobil salesperson, just like the stuff and passing on my experience with it.
However, I'm a little worried about that thing called warranty? From what I've gathered, if I don't document my oil changes, and if I don't use approved oil, John Deere could have an "out" if anything should happen during the warranty period? I'll probably wait another year,(when the warranty runs out) and then switch to the Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck 5W-40, or whatever it will be called at that time. So, I too, am interested in what others have to say about running a synthetic oil in their tractors? The longer I can go between oil changes, the better I'll like it.
