Mobilfluid 426 instead of Kubota UDT

/ Mobilfluid 426 instead of Kubota UDT #11
Hi,
I'm doing my first 50 hour service on my BX and instead of using UDT I'm going to use Mobilfluid 426 (http://xom.ee/files/270_glxxencvlmomobilfluid_426.pdf) from Mobil.
On reading the specs for this oil I can see not only will it replace the hydraulic fluid, but it will also replace the 10W-30 in the engine and the gear oil (SAE 80W).
Has anyone else tried out this oil?
Has anyone else used one oil for all three applications?
If so what was the outcome?

Thanks,
Robert.

Thanks for this. That makes two readily available UDT substitutes. The other that I know of is Chevron 1000 THF

http://www.alexisoil.com/pdf/1000THF.pdf.

Notice that the Chevron THF specifically states it meets UDT standards. If you compare the specs between the Mobil and the Chevron, they are virtually identical.

Has anyone ever heard of a component/system failure (or damage) caused by the manufacturer's recommended fluids?

I'm just going to put in what came with it and not have to think/worry about any of this stuff.

Storm56, Philip8N, Guys,

I hear you loud and clear. Keep the Mobil426 out of the engine. You are right it is a BX and indeed I did mis-understand what it meant in the oil specs. I guess that is why I thought it better to ask more experienced and wiser heads before doing anything. I'll get 10w-30 for the engine and use the 426 in the Hydraulics and gears.

Many thanks for the good steer.

Robert.

Robert you are welcome. Would hate to see a new machine ruined and would hate even worse to see you lunch a moter and then have a warranty claim denied because the wrong oil was used. And Kubota as well as just about any other manufacturer would surely deny a claim based on such circumstances and rightly so.

That said there is nothing wrong with using oils, filters, etc, that do not carry the manufacturer name on them - as long as they meet or exceed the OEM specs. I very rarely buy OEM fluids, filters, etc, BUT believe me I DO check specs to be sure I am using the proper stuff.

Just changed the UTF last month in my JD 4700 and used NAPA Premium UTF. Meets JD spec for my climate and I saw 0 difference from the JD Hyguard that came out.

Best of luck with that new machine!

Guys,

Thanks for all your help. I will post an update on how I get on with the fluids.

I'm based in Ireland and the problem is the Kubota UDT is about $150 for 20 Liters (5 Gals) here, so an alternative that is widely sold on the market makes a lot of economic sense. I agree with everyone, there is no point in not going by the book on the other hand there is no point in being robbed either.

Will update with result.

I see your delima and limited options, good luck with your decision. I just changed the fluids in my L3940 and used SUDT. I bought 15 gallons in 5 gallon pails, had a gallon and a half or so left over. In US I paid $104 for a 5 gallon pail of Kubota SUDT. Are you telling me Kubota UDT is $150 a pail in Ireland!!! Philip.

Kubota uses refiners/blenders throughout the world to re-package their oil products. Kubota is not a refiner of oil or oil products.

In the US, they use Ashland Oil, and in Canada I believe they use PetroCanada or some such and only market Premium UDT. That's it.
