Here are a couple of modifications that I made to my Jinma chipper:

First is a storage cart. It is a dumpster diving special. I could not have asked for a more perfect fit. I would consider this type of cart an absolute "must have" for anyone that owns this chipper. The chipper itself weighs about 800 lbs and is impossible to safely move when not on the 3 point hitch. When the chipper is on this storage cart it is effortless to move it in the garage on the concrete floor, and a simple matter to hook it up to the 3 point hitch lift arms. Highly recommended!

Next are 2 additions to the chipper itself that consist of a scabbard for my chainsaw and a milk basket for carrying my chainsaw gas can, bottle of chain oil, and other small tools.

The scabbard is made from some 1/2" plywood forming a "sleeve" for the chainsaw bar to slide into. Short lengths of angle mount the scabbard to the chipper body, and are bolted in place using the existing bolts that hold the halves of the chipper together.

The basket is mounted to the top portion of the 3 point hitch. Here short lengths of angle are welded to the hitch, and the basket is clamped tight with some small pieces of flat bar stock.

The angle used for both of these mods is actually some of the crating material that the chipper was shipped in!

I have found that an exact color match for the Jinma red paint color is "Massey Ferguson Red".

How long have you had the chipper and how big of diameter can it handle with your tractor? Nice looking mods. I have a lot of chipping to do and still up innthe air as to what I want to buy. Thanks.

Beau, nice dumpster score -cart looks HD.

Do you leave the chainsaw in place while chipping? I like the idea of having a small chainsaw easily accessible while chipping for the occasion crotch, but where you located would prone to alot of vibration and chips, therefore the question. Thanks fo rsharing.

JohnK: I have had this chipper a little more than 2 years. As far as size of material, it has been able to chip almost anything I can pick up and feed it! It will choke on pine branches with all the small needles. That stuff has to be fed a little at a time, and then wait to make sure it has all been thrown out before feeding in more.

moeh1: I generally have the saw out of the scabbard and in use when I am chipping. The chips will pass right over the top of it though. Just depends on how the chute is aimed.

Beau,
Thanks for the info. Got so busy looking at pics the first time, I missed the touch up paint tip..... I may watch mine in operation some time, would be nice to rubber mount a chain saw scabbard somewhere, just have to try and think about that the next time I am chipping. I leave it on the ground now too, but woudl be nice to keep it out of the way.
Thanks for sharing

That is a nice addition having everything you need in one location. Saves the trip back for extra items. Why does it feed slowely with pine needles ? I have alot of them to chip and this is the first I have heard of this problem. The closest dealer is about 65 miles away and he is going to call when he gets a chipper in. This will be a good test if it can handle pine branches. Do you run out of power or will it simply plug up ? This is very interesting, thanks for the info.

I don't have pine needles on my trees. What I am chipping is mostly cedars/junipers. So far I have chipped about 8 cubic yards of excellent mulch and have not clogged yet. Now when I run a branch thru that has a lot of green on it, I'll let it run all the way thru before I start the next one. That may be what it takes to prevent clogging? Forgot to mention, I am using a Jinma 6 inch.
