Leaving the Kubota ballast box empty is what I do. It is easy to muscle it around when not in use or when attaching it. I just add whatever is handy after it is hooked up...e.g. old iron, big rocks, concrete blocks etc. That also leaves space for whatever tool is needed. On my CUT the amount of ballast needed is usually not all that much anyhow. The neat thing about the Kubota box is that it works better in close spaces than a BB or RB etc. The down side is that the configuration doesn't allow for my EZ Hitch to attach without sawing the upright ears off of it. Your welding is beautiful....wish I could do that. Cheers, Mike BTW those loops that you welded to the box will make handy "grab handles" to muscle the box around...among other uses.
