You need to find a way to keep the moisture level down in that building. Mold is bad stuff, it killed my dad, if you get mold spores (invasive aspergillosis) into you're lungs you may not know you have it until you're immune system deteriorates with age, then it kills you, I watched the torture first hand, it's a bad deal..

Couple of years ago I re finished my wood cladded home using water based opaque stain.
This after stripping all the previous finish down to bare wood.
Here in Quebec oil based finishes have been banned, hence the water based stains.
Now as I look at that finish I see all kinds of black mould showing here and there, mostly on the shaded areas.
My take is that the water based finish being porous accepts humidity and hence moulds grow.
Presently contemplating what to do to attack the problem.
First thought is a pressure washer using a bleach solution of some sort.

Anybody have better ideas?
I have a couple old CD jukeboxes in garage too. The pressed wood cabinets attacked . Worse, the mold got inside of cabinets. It's a mess. It's been a real rain summer. What got me is how fast it got a start. I sprayed down with Borax today. Scrubbed the jukes out side and sprinkled Borax inside. There is a big amount of moisture in garage. It's been damp forever in past. Never had mold, though. I'm planning on following up with more treatments. Maybe Bleach next time. Lot of fumes though. Not sure if I want use. Peroxide, Baking Soda and vinegar. Baking Soda not bad smell. Vinegar smells bad but I don't think hurts people and good on french fries. I'm gonna get humidifier. I have to stop water from getting in and dry things up fast. I'll keep blasting till eradicated.
My ideas and ideas I have read here also.

Good luck... I can't wait to see some results here........ Cheers....Coffeeman

Wet n Forget - does a great job and no work to it other than spraying it on. It may take awhile for the mold to disappear, but it will.

Then while you're waiting for it disappear, work on the moisture issue.
Wet and Forget. Found ads and looks might be a good second treatment.. I really don't like mold. Thank you for the tip...

WOW! I'ave heard bad stuff about black mold. Maybe all mold is bad. I didn't actually do the spraying. I am cautious about these things, as I have had a liver transplant. As most know I take meds to keep my immune system down to keep body from attacking new organ. Probably even bad for me to walk in garage. The guy who sprayed stuff for me had his mobil home covered with mold. Did his with bleach. Did mine with Borax.. He wore a dust mask. but I wonder if that would be enough? Can't be too cautious .

Thank you for info. Sorry to hear about your Dad. So much sadness we have to deal with on our journey. Of course, your Father had the longest journey in the end.

Thanks again for tip........Coffeeman

I think you meant dehumidifier.

I am following along. I have some black mold in one corner of my garage that is attacking a plywood wall down next to the concrete slab. I know I need to address it... maybe this thread will motivate me to finally get it taken care of.

I removed the 5 gal. plastic fuel tank from the Bolens HT just to scrub the black grunge off of it. Never seen the likes of that in 20 years.
Now I notice that the bright orange air hose coiled at the air compressor is mostly black as well. Fungus amungus!

It appears the mildew likes plastics. That is GOOD!

We had a scout put a pair of wet boots under a bunk. In less than a week they were fuzzy boots.
