Adding gas to a diesel improves the hp. I know in the winter time here in Illinois a lot of independent owners add gas to their diesel fuel tanks to keep the diesel fuel from jelling.

Higher octane has some effects also, but I dont think any of them are good ones.

Thanks for everyone's comments. My brother was at the farm today and drained the gas. Refilled with diesel. 3 or 4 seconds after starting it evened out and everything seems to be O.K. Thanks again. Chuck
