Hey guys, I have been lurking for a couple of weeks gathering info for my first tractor purchase. Wow, what a great site!

To the question at hand. I have the opertunity to purchase a new Montana 4540 with a Montana model 100 FEL for $18,800. Supposedly this tractor normally retails for around 22K. The dealer says he can offer the lower price due to the fact that it's been on the lot for 6 months.

Does this seem like a good price? Any opinions appreciated.

Yes, that is a good price. Drive it and you will really like it unless you are 6'1" and and over 230lbs. Actually, it has been my favorite machine for the power and features for the price but I fit nicely in it since I am only 5' 11" and 220 lbs. (pure muscle by the way hahaha).

maka,

Thanks for the reply. I thought I was getting a good price but it's nice to get validation. I'm 5'10" 175lbs so no problem there. I drove the machine briefly but plan on going back to put it through it's paces. I'll be using it on 131 acres in NE Pa. doing everything from mowing to road and trail maint. to log skidding. ( probably plenty of other jobs I'll make up just for seat time!)

This is probably more tractor than I need but at that price it doesn't make sense to go smaller.
