Yep, I sheared the pin the first time I started up the bush hog. There is a solenoid that can be adjusted to control how hard the PTO starts up. On the R4944 it's somewhere behind the right rear wheel - at least that's where the mechanic was foolin' around to fix it.

Hi Charlie,
That sounds great that there is a way to adjust the PTO engagement. Now does anyone know how to do that? Must be rather easy and I am a do it yourself type of guy. My machine is out of the first year warranty, so probably not going to get the dealer to help me for free anymore. Would there be a service manual to explain, ready for us to obtain anywhere? I have the 5740C bought new in May of 2005.
