Whatever happens to Sears and JC Penney of today happens, but they and Wards sure had a good run in their day.

True, and eventually Walmart and Amazon will fall by the wayside if they don't keep up when something new comes along. I spent many evenings with the Wish Book and Dennis the Menace, and I thought that every second toy should be on my Christmas list.

The wife and I went into the local JC Penney store and I was surprised at how much businesss it had. Much more than Sears in the same mall.

My wife still goes to Penny's for clothes once in a while. The Penny's home store across the street from the mall had some really nice bedding, linens, etc.... but that store closed a few months ago. Bummer.
The most busy place seems to be Kohl's..... got go spend those "free" Kohl's bucks befor they expire!!!!!!! :laughing:

I went to tsc for jeans tonight, same brand and size as always, but way tighter. But my wife likes them....

I was really impressed with the JC Penney kitchen section. I just never really went into the store much before yesterday. Maybe once or twice looking to see if the wife was falling off the wagon (she is a shopaholic). I do all the cooking so I will have to go back when we have more time. Not that I need much but it does not hurt to look.

I went to Rural King and tried on some shorts for work. Nice shorts. Cargo pockets. Fit great. $10 on sale. So I bought 2 pair. Took them home and wore the first pair for 2 days. OK. Put the 2nd pair on, they fell off my waist. Same labeled size. 2" larger. So I just tightened my belt. Washed the 1st pair. Wore them on day 5. Found the left cargo pocket was sewn shut! :laughing:

It would have cost me more in gas to take them back at that point. So I just wear them and chuckle.

The JC Penny here has the same gentleman in the Men's department for as long as I can remember... consummate professional.
I don't go in often but when I do I ask for him... apparently... so do many others.
I tell him what I am looking for and it magically appears... correct size, etc... and this is at JC Penny in little old Hayward CA.

Speaking of old time places, I drove past a Sonic Drive In and the sign out front said Americas Drive In. As long as there is one A&W Drive In left, it will always be America’s Drive In to me.
