Like the shirt, wdchyd! Looks like you're loaded for ... bear?
Jimmy Joe - the DEP guys said I could have the results in a few days, so I'll call next week and se what did him in and post results.
About the car mash-up: one of the guys told me that if there's any kind of vehicle speed, collisions with a moose are likely to be fatal for the driver due to the moose's mass center being at about the same height as the driver's head. So your gal was lucky!

Luckily she was just coming out of a 35 MPH zone and hadn't started to get back to highway speed when he appeared.
You should have seen the interior of that vehicle. Covered in all manner of moose innards. We went to the tow company's garage that same day to salvage what personal property we could out of the interior. I told her that in a day or so it wasn't going to be so pretty smelling in there.

Many years ago we were passed by a sports car (Austin 3000) with the top up. We then pulled in for a coffee but about five miles up the road we came upon the OPP, ambulance and tow truck clustered around the Austin. The car looked fine except that it had no windshield and the top was no longer there. The moose was dead and so were the people in the car....Just glad we didn't get the coffee to go

It's an LA724 loader which I think means it's good for 724 kg about 1600#, assuming you hang something heavy on the tail. I just got a set of used pallet forks, so when I get the next shipment of lime I think I'll try a little experiment ...

We were, too. We enjoyed having him around so much that we used a picture of him for our Christmas card this year. The Plant Manager pinged the guy at DEP for a post mortem report - he said it's still being processed and will send it our way when it's complete.

keep us updated on the post mortem report.

We have them occasionally around here but they are stealth. It allways amazes me how big animals can become invisible in the wink of an eye.
